Reimage Review: Automating Your Home Office Computer Repair
May 18th
Home office workers are totally dependent on their computer for their livelihood and any extended PC downtime cannot be tolerated. This article highlights a sequence of computer repair and maintenance steps to take after the PC registry becomes corrupted along with a Reimage review as a means to automating repairs using an online service.
I recently received a fatal blue screen error during Windows start up with the code 0x80072F76. As I work from home I had to attempt all repairs for myself. The error code means that the registry file has been corrupted. The following repairs should be attempted in the sequence stated here based on online advice.
- Log onto Windows under a different account. This workaround will work if the registry hive is only affected for a single account.
- Start Windows in safe-mode then import an older version of the registry. This is dependent on you keeping backup copies of the registry.
- Use the Windows boot disks to start the computer then run all system checks. This is less likely to work though may highlight some possible cause (e.g. disk sector faults).
- Lastly, resort to automated PC maintenance software.
I ultimately went with Reimage PC maintenance software as the computer got a blue screen error no matter what was attempted and it successfully got my PC operational again in 30 minutes.
Reimage can provide a boot application (from their site) to bypass blue screen issues during start up and get IE and web access operational. Once Windows is booted, Reimage runs as an ActiveX application within IE.
It scans the file system (OS & applications) and registry for faults comparing your system to their online database of healthy, working configurations. The repair stage downloads missing/upgraded files from their server and repairs registry key errors then reboots the computer.
As a home office worker it is necessary to attempt repairs for yourself. The above steps will assist anyone experiencing the same blue screen error and it is reassuring to know that if all else fails then there is software there to act as an online repair service.
Free Registry Fix for Faster Performance
Mar 9th
If your computer is running slower than it did when you first brought it home, a free registry fix may be just what you need to speed things up a bit. Much like a house gets cluttered and dirty without cleaning, over time your computer registry is filled with unnecessary temporary files, malicious Adware and erroneous registry entries that result from incomplete installs or uninstalls.
Calm Down
Many individuals have an automatic panic reflex that kicks in when their computer crashes, freezes or begins to flash “error” messages on a regular basis. If these unhealthy symptoms begin to show up in your computer, take a deep breath and have no fear. Chances are, you do not need to replace your PC or laptop. Downloading a free registry fix program from the internet will typically get your computer back into tip-top shape within a matter of a few minutes.
Use Caution
While many free registry cleaners can be located on the internet quickly via a simple query on your favorite search engine, you should stick to downloads that have a “No Spyware” guarantee seal. The reason for this is simple. Some free registry cleaner downloads operate as Trojan horses for malicious software and viruses that do more harm to your computer than good.
It is easy to download a safe registry cleaner program, simply use caution in your choice and look for the guarantee seal that should be present on the download page itself.
Be Consistent
While you should see immediate improvement in the performance of your computer after running your registry cleaner program for the first time, regular maintenance is essential to keeping your PC in prime operating condition. If you surf the net a great deal, a daily clean is a good idea to keep malicious software bugs out of your system. If you are a moderate internet user, bi-weekly cleanings should suffice.
